How it Works - An Example
A Committed Giving programme was already in place with mainly long term standing orders. The charity had a limited number of Direct Debit donations which were mainly handled externally via fundraising companies. The charity found that they were getting fewer large donations made from individuals and that younger donors were not replacing them.

There was a need to move to Direct Debit processing online but:

• Large fundraising and accountancy legacy systems meant probability of expensive bespoke system
• Didn’t want to outsource on grounds of expense and supporter services
• Looking after the DD processes internally would mean increased staff numbers

We worked with the charity to define their requirement:

• Donations had to be input securely from a variety of locations – in-house, by suppliers and specifically by donors – and all at the same time
• The data entered had to be of high quality first time around and could be added simply and immediately into a charity’s fundraising and/or accounts systems
• Additional information concerning each donor’s interests should also be collected
• The ability to edit and update donor records had to be present
• Each donation needed to be verified and authorised with minimal charity personnel involvement
• The system needed to manage the ongoing payments directly into the charity’s bank accounts with the minimum of wasted time
• Give them full control of their committed giving programme and cheaply
